India is unique. One of its kind. If the entire world is an apartment, India could pass as the Puja room. An undercurrent of divine vibes runs across this land perennially. It provides certain Thought leadership to the rest of the world which goes rudderless now n then. It popped up Adi Shankara at the most appropriate time when, after Gupta dynasty, there was political instability and in society there were different schools of thought. Mฤซmฤแนsฤ school established strict ritualism n ridiculed monasticism. Adi Shankara accomplished the much needed course correction single handedly. A huge fillip to Hinduism and order restored. It was Thought Leadership thru spiritual means.
Once done, he was called back, when he was just 32 yrs. But he left sprouting seeds of a great bhakti movement.
Bhakti movement that originally began in South India in the 9th century with Shankaracharya spread over all parts of India. By the 16th century it became a big spiritual force to reckon with, especially after remarkable spiritual movements by Kabir, Nanak and Shri Chaitanya.
Only such spiritual awakening now n then protected the core essence of the country from being destroyed by the invaders.
Post 16th century again some slow down. Though till Sri Ramakrishna appeared in 1836 to shake the spiritual world out of its stupor, many saints appeared here n there and served the society big time. Ramakrishna prepared the next warrior to take on the world that badly needed a vanguard of spirituality. A thorough overhaul of the conscience of the world.
Wav. It was indeed the positive 9/11 for America (as against the negative one that was to come 108 yrs later !). Yes. 9/11 literally. On 11 Sep 1893, his opening lines in famous Chicago conference "Brothers and sisters of America", was heard by the world with rapt attention. Again a directional change. His speeches became part of school curriculum that continues to inspire the youth even today. Once done, he too was withdrawn at the age of 39. Thereafter many here n there. Gandhiji arrived later to politically respond with spiritual driving force from inside. Ram. Ram..
New model for the world.
Aurobindo Ghosh tried to stray away n be in pureplay Politics. But got back to where he belonged. And became a great Spiritual Master.
Its part of Indian DNA. It can't be undone. Spiritual responses are instinctive here. Got ingrained into local cultures in different flavours.
Long ago I was in Calcutta for an official visit. In the traffic jam, Cal is known for, I saw a remarkable sight peeping out of car window. A lady in rags was cleaning up a corner of footpath. Then sprinkled water. Took out A somewhat old pic of a deity ( could be Kali). Prayed. Then a doggy came up. Petted it. Then set up her stuff. Begging bowl and accessries. Started her vocation. Begging. The bongs passing by threw a coin or two. Wondered how this culture made her to pray religiously even when down n out n begging on streets. These kind of scenes only made Vivekananda out of Narendra, when he undertook a tour of India as ordained by His Master Ramakrishna.
So, the notable point is the indestructible spiritual undercurrent in India. And a great enabling ecosystem for individuals to flower as spiritual beings to lead the world as standalone light houses.
And now.....again another set back. India got into distress mode. The opposite of Pro is Con as all know . Now read Pro'gress. And discover the opposite . Yes..
Political harakiri. Pure mayhem. Rudderless again.
God sent another messiah. Again with spiritual overtones. No prize for guessing. The war is on again. All evil forces ganged up. To destroy India, dreaming it to become thukde thukde. All media portray their plots picturesquely 24x7.
How do we respond to this new existential crisis.
Only two choices.
To get violent to fight against evil and risk losing Peace and all one has, including the cherished values.
Or
Go dumb just debating pointlessly in lunch times and in street corners over who's right n who's wrong and post in social media till dropping dead. (And get 'like' for that too.)
But there is an unseen third option.
Become spiritually empowered strong individuals.Together such individuals can become huge unseen consortium, a force to reckon with. That a spiritually strong individual can shake the world is proven repeatedly by this nation. Others can ask for proof. Not an Indian. Like a fish can't ask for proof of water around.
It's not about Sankhya but Shakti.
So, where do we start.
Yes. You guessed it right.
Pray. Chant. Meditate
Till you become a spiritual warrior who can take on the evil axis. Get empowered by pure spiritual strength built internally. Brick by brick of adhyatmik kilns.
Possible. Only individuals transformed the world.
It's not about sankhya but Shakti.
The nation needs spiritually empowered individuals to fight evil monsters. And you could be one.
